A Sturgeon Bay man has been arrested after he allegedly attacked a family with a hedge trimmer.

The incident occurred last week Wednesday at around 2:30 p.m.

Officers arrived at a home on Georgia Street to find two men fighting, and a woman claiming one of them had hit her in the head with the gardening tool.

The Sturgeon Bay Police Department reports that two five-year-old children saw the attack, and one of them was struck by the man, whom the woman did not know.

The children were able to barricade themselves in the home until help arrived.

The woman’s grandfather, who was in the backyard at the time, heard the attack, and confronted the man.

Both the woman and her grandfather sustained injuries and the suspect, identified only as a 30-year-old Sturgeon Bay man, was arrested.

He is facing charges including Attempted First-Degree Intentional Homicide, Armed Robbery with Use of Force, Armed Burglary, Aggravated Battery, False Imprisonment, Felony Intimidation of a Victim, Physical Abuse of a Child—Intentionally Cause Bodily Harm by Conduct which Creates a High Probability of Great Bodily Harm, Criminal Damage to Property, Burglary of a Building or Dwelling and Felony Bail Jumping.
